Advancing Science at the Root of Neurodegeneration
Glyx Therapeutics is a biotech company dedicated to developing disease-modifying therapies for neurodegenerative disorders and dementia. Our research addresses one of the most pressing challenges in modern medicine: halting the biological processes that drive irreversible cognitive decline, rather than simply managing symptoms. More than 55 million people worldwide live with dementia, yet no approved therapy stops its underlying progression. We are working to change that by targeting disease at its mechanistic origin.
Our Core Program: Targeting Tau
At the center of our pipeline is a first-in-class, brain-penetrant, orally available compound designed to intervene directly in tau pathology — a key driver of Alzheimer’s disease and related tauopathies. Unlike therapies that act on a single step, our candidate is engineered to address three interconnected drivers of disease at once:
- Protecting tau from hyperphosphorylation — blocking the molecular trigger that converts healthy tau into its pathological form.
- Dissolving tau aggregation — disrupting the toxic clumping that impairs neuronal function.
- Reducing neuroinflammation — lowering the chronic inflammatory burden linked to disease progression.
This triple mode of action, supported by in vitro and in vivo preclinical proof of concept, reflects a disease-modifying strategy with confirmed blood-brain barrier penetration and a favorable preclinical safety profile.
Detailed information on our work in Alzheimer’s disease and tauopathies is available on our dedicated pages.
Expanding the Platform
Our scientific approach is built on a versatile compound platform with potential relevance beyond neurodegeneration. We are currently advancing research into a third therapeutic indication, which remains in early development.
For confidentiality and intellectual property reasons, this program cannot yet be disclosed. We look forward to sharing more as the science matures and the appropriate protections are secured.
A Foundation of Scientific Rigor
Every stage of our research is grounded in empirical validation, structured preclinical evaluation, and sustainable green chemistry. This methodical approach underpins our commitment to credible, differentiated science — and to meaningful impact for patients, families, and healthcare systems affected by neurodegenerative disease.
